E-Commerce, with a Luxury Twist

When L'Oreal decided to create a new ecommerce web site for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and Parfumes, they chose ID Society as their creative design and strategic marketing partner. The new site, Giorgio Armani Beauty (www.giorgioarmanibeauty.com) was launched on December 9th for the 2005 holiday season.

The ecommerce-enabled site marries the luxury of Giorgio Armani cosmetics and perfumes with exciting new design elements including enhanced selection guides that assist consumers in making their choices of not only products, but also of color shades and other variants. The new Armani Beauty Bar allows consumers a virtual in-store experience by having all products from the range displayed online in a single location. Throughout the site, consumers can quickly and accurately view and select the individual shades of their favorite products with more than the traditional splash of color on a palette background. For the lipstick category, once a shade is selected, consumers can see the color applied to the lips of a model on the web page. Shoppers can click through the colors to find the shade that is just right for them.

The site is designed to be easy to navigate with many opportunities throughout the site to learn more about the products and the brand. An Advisor selection shows shoppers how to apply the cosmetics to achieve a certain look, and also includes the ability to buy the products used. Gifting is also made easy, with Gift Certificates that can be fulfilled online and sent to a friend.
